We have been working with DB Schenker on the Celesta app for over 18 years. Celesta, which runs in real-time on Android, has helped to make transport more efficient and logistics coordination easier.
"Our drivers use the Celesta mobile app, which communicates with our own production system. Our schedulers can use the Celesta Plan app to track the location of each of our vehicles on the map in real time. Pick-up orders and delivery orders are sent from our own production system directly to the handheld terminal, where the driver receives them in real time." says Manager System Development Juha Uusitorppa from DB Schenker.
For Schenker, Celesta's real-time capability has been an important feature in improving operational efficiency.
"When the dispatcher places a pick-up order or delivery list with the driver, the information is displayed on the screen of the driver's terminal within a few seconds. This can reduce wasted driving and emissions and improve the fill rate of the trucks." continues Uusitorppa.
Schenker uses Zebra TC75x mobile terminals to which drivers receive their orders.
"When we switched to TC75x devices and the Android operating system, the Celesta mobile app became significantly faster. In fact, we're getting a lot of positive feedback from drivers about it, as they no longer have to wait for delivery and pick-up orders to be uploaded."
